The SACKOBA DFP Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2024 was held in grand style on November 9th at the picturesque Malima Naval Clubhouse, attracting a distinguished gathering that highlighted the spirit of unity and commitment. The event was graced by esteemed figures including the Rector of St. Anthony’s College, Rev. Fr. Henry Wijerathne O.S.B., and the Prior Major of the Benedictine congregation, Rev. Fr. Shamindra Jayawardene O.S.B. The guest of honour for the evening was none other than the legendary cricketer, Mr. Muttiah Muralidaran, whose presence added a touch of inspiration and pride to the occasion.
The AGM brought together a diverse group of attendees, including the President of the SACKOBA Parent Body, President of the SACKOBA Colombo Branch, members from various affiliated SACKOBA bodies, distinguished invitees, and many serving and retired officers from Sri Lanka’s tri-services and police force. Their presence reflected the enduring bond between St. Anthony’s College alumni and their unwavering support for each other, as well as their dedication to the nation.
One of the key highlights of the AGM was the official launch of the SACKOBA DFP website, inaugurated by Mr. Muttiah Muralidaran. The website promises to serve as a valuable platform for alumni to connect, share updates, and foster a sense of community among members worldwide.
A moment of pride and gratitude followed as Mr. Muralidaran expressed his views and highest regards of appreciation for having him as the guest of honour for the event. Further past President Air Vice Marshall Janaka Amarasinghe appraised Mr. Senaka Foseka, whose extraordinary service in designing the War Heroes Monument at St. Anthony’s College Kandy has been a heartfelt tribute to the College’s legacy and Mr. Foseka’s dedication was rightfully acknowledged during the event.
